Historically, the most notorious and noteworthy of progressive musical movements have always held their key figureheads. That meager cluster of superior acts whose innovative ideals and inequivalent capabilities propel them ahead of their peers, becoming the leaders of their genres through the sheer definition of their actions and talents. The past four years have given rise to an extremely exciting underground electronic scene in the United Kingdom, decimating previously frustrating artistic restrictions and unearthing a number of diverse and dynamic personalities. What has made this miraculous trend all the more fascinating is the fact that these independently powered pioneers have shunned traditional techniques regarding the promotion and distribution of their music, favoring modern technology to spread the word and nurture their ever expanding appeal. The Whip and Killaflaw have arguably led this revolt, building their respective fanbases through social networking and self releasing their uniquely intriguing hybrids. Rising Liverpool electro-indie popsters Triphazard have also embraced this method resulting in an increased awareness and growing success. It would appear this elite faction has now gained another entrant in the stimulating shape of acidic anarchists Hitchcock. This demonic duo, who’s unconventional take on the electro template has seen them saunter off the streets of their hometown of Birmingham and stomp through the independent music scene leaving a trail of impeccably tailored destruction in their wake, have recently inched their way up the MySpace Music charts through a healthy buzz alone, providing further evidence that the indie labels are, as they always have been, where the truly tantalizing bands call home.

Having kick-started their live career a mere two years ago, Hitchcock have cultivated a rousing reputation for incendiary performances oozing a manic energy and theatrical menace befitting their uncompromisingly iconic cinematic namesake. Fusing a schizophrenic swagger with infectious hooks this terrifying twosome have already embarked on a successful UK tour boasting stop off’s at Koko in Camden and Gatecrasher Ultra in Nottingham before gracing last year’s T in the Park festival. Capitalizing on their feverish live following Hitchcock are polluting the airwaves with the second cut from their upcoming long player ‘Running from the Sane’, an eclectic burst of exhilarating noise entitled ‘Never Said A Word’. Building on their frenzied formula of disparate dance rock and techno leanings whilst giving a stylized nod to their retro glam-soaked roots, ‘Never Said A Word’ is a perfect slice of disjointed intensity summing up the intentions of this visually enticing group. Frontman Matt Droog’s vocals sear with a punk-splattered saliva complimenting Andy Huckvale’s eighties inspired electronica concluding in a narcissistic diagnosis of nightmarish pandemonium.

Powerful, twisted and impossible to ignore, like Ziggy Stardust mating with David Cronenberg, Hitchcock are readying their shuttle and inviting you to blast off into a galaxy of limitless wonder, catch them at the Secret Garden Party and check out their MySpace http://www.myspace.com/hitchcockmusic for further information.
