Anavris – Eleven eyes of a simple man (EP)

Anavris are a 4 piece from Glasgow, who if this EP truly showcases then have big big things to move on to (in my humble opinion of course!)
Opening track ‘Somedays you just can’t rid of a bomb’ opens brightly and brings you instantly into what is an excellent opening track, showcasing tight band play, well placed lyrics that don’t steal the show but compliment the impressive composition. Not to mention it has brilliantly fast and simple guitar.
Track 2 continues what it is already an excellent start, perhaps aptly named ‘she dances’ because i can just imagine this track driving people to dance, again excellent guitar, complimentary lyrics and a brilliant beat right through driving the song and EP forward with impressive speed.
‘Eyes wired shut’ offers a look at a slightly different side to Anavris more about the vocals but still showing excellent guitars, great percussion. Not the best song on the EP but no slouch either doing it’s job well to help showcase the band.
Track 4 ‘X+Why9′ is again something different focusing heavily at the beginning at the strong vocal lead Chris Alexander provides before building up into a much heavier musical mash that although a bit overwhelming at first listen must be revisited to truly appreciate, it brings an impressive end to an impressive EP. I think I’ll be keeping my eyes on this band.
