Young Guns – Mirrors

Okay, it starts off intriguing. Builds up nicely, and I have to say the opening song ‘Daughter of the sea’, doesn’t do too badly at drawing you in. I mean lets be honest, there are bands out there bands like Alexisonfire , that do this better than Buckinghamshire based quintet, however it shows promise, it has all the right ingredients, it just needs a bit more tweaking and it could be excellent.

Then we get to the second song ‘Weight of the world’, and it feels very similar, which is a problem shared between tracks 3 and 4 (‘There will be rain’ and ‘In the night’), this isn’t a bad EP, but it leaves plenty of room for improvement for a forthcoming album.

Each song individually is good, as an EP this just doesn’t work all that well.
I’m still interested in hearing more from this band, hoping they produce better.

Rating: ★★★☆☆
