Sound Of Guns – Architects

First song (and, I’m assuming, first single) ‘Architects’ sounds HUGE. Seriously, put it on with decent speakers, and it’ll fill the room. It was the first thing that struck me, and I’m not the type of person to go around describing music in size.

I’ve heard more about Sound Of Guns than I’ve heard their music, though that could be because they’re a local band (hailing from lovely Liverpool), and have been knocking around a while. On the basis of this 2 song promo, however, it’d be nice to hear more. As I’ve said, ‘Architects’ sounds massive, and is a thunderous, anthemic piece of music. More in common musically with the Foo Fighters than The Zutons, who will be the obvious comparison for many.

Second track, ‘Magnesium Seas’ is more reserved, but still stands up strongly. It’s a slower track too, and packs a soaring chorus with simple, choppy guitar hooks before coming to its climactic end. It’s a promising sound, and will surely attract all the right attention both locally and nationally.

Very much looking forward to hearing more. ‘Architects’ – Rating: ★★★★☆
