Unfortunately I missed the first support, so if you came to hear about Smudge, sorry. It wasn’t our fault though, we had some massive problems getting in! I won’t go into it, it’s not that interesting.

I did catch Failsafe just starting up, and I’m glad I did. I’ve only ever heard of them playing as MC Lars’ band before, never their own stuff. They’re a very punky sound, much grittier than your typical pop-punk band.
The atmosphere was so strong, the band were pretty intense and it was hard not to enjoy yourself.
There was some banter with the crowd, and people were happy to clap along when requested. The only bad thing I can mention was that while most people seemed to be enjoying them, they were definately just waiting for MC Lars to turn up.
I would love to see these guys headline a venue, definately one to check out. I’m just disappointed I didn’t have enough cash on me to get their CD!

Then came MC Lars, he started off with the instantly recognisable “Where you bin Lars?”. Although not long after, some problems arose with the mic. I’m not sure what the problem was, but it was easilly solved.
Lars had a great stage presence. He even played along to Guitar Hero Hero on a Guitar Hero controller!

It didn’t take long before people were singing along to everything. Oh by the way, what do you call a judge with no thumbs?.. Justice Fingers. Ok, that’s one of his, I won’t do any more! I’m pretty sure it’s the only time I’ve ever seen people rocking out to the Tetris and Sonic themes, and thats a complete shame, it needs to happen so much more.

One of the big things I enjoyed about the gig, was the extra little touches that went into it. They didn’t just come out, play their songs and leave. For a start, there was a projector set up behind the band with pictures for the song, probably made on MS Paint, but still a brilliant and above and beyond the norm.
The last song was sung by a fan pulled onto the stage, he seemed pretty damn pleased, and did a great job.

MC Lars knows how to entertain, and entertain well. If I didn’t already own his album, I’de be buying it right now.
