Automatic, The – This Is A Fix

One of the biggest surprises of the year.
Catchy, intelligent rock; with absolutely no annoying yelping. Opener ‘Responsible Citizen’ sets the scene, with interesting lyrics layered over hooky riffs and much improved vocals, before launching into the albums first single ‘Steve McQueen’. Not quite as instantly catchy as ‘Monster’, but sharing many of it’s infectious elements, with better pacing; showing a band who know what they’re best at, and improving on it.
Infact that is the main theme throughout the entire album. Improved everything, more hooks, it really is a case of more killer, less filler. That this has happened with the addition of the ex-yourcodenameis:Milo frontman into the fold surely cannot be a coincidence.
‘Accessories’ and ‘Bad Guy’ are standout tracks on an album full of them, with only ‘Sleepwalking’ letting the standards slip slightly. This deserves to be heard by as many people as possible.
Rating:

Easily one of the best albums of the year.
